Banking giant Barclays on Tuesday announced the appointment of Robert Peck as president of global internet banking.

Peck, who will be based in New York, will take up his new role in June of this year.

He is the second Internet banker Barclays has hired in the past two months.

In February, the London-based company appointed Riaz Ladhabhoy as co-head of online banking for the Americas.

Peck joins Barclays from Credit Suisse where he spent the last two years as the head of the global internet investment bank.

“Bob is highly regarded as a thought leader in the Internet space, and his close relationships with key industry players will bring great benefits to our clients,” said Laurence Braham, Co-Head of Technology Banking Services in the Americas.

“He has an exceptional track record and is a great addition to our internet platform and our larger technology franchise. “

From Merrill Lynch to Credit Suisse

Along with his time at Credit Suisse, Peck was Managing Director and Global Head of Internet Research at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, the investment banking arm of SunTrust Banks.

He was also president of investment bank CoRise and Internet analyst at Baron Capital. In addition to this experience, early in his career, Peck worked as an analyst with Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns.

“Bob’s expertise and experience will perfectly complement our origination-driven banking model and our delivery of exceptional strategic advice to our clients,” added John Miller, Global Head of Bank Coverage.

“His appointment is further proof of our commitment to operating a leading technology franchise. “
