Chelsea’s current problems cannot be solved by a single checkbook » Chelsea News

After a 3-0 thrashing by Leeds United at the weekend, everyone has their opinions and reactions to where things went wrong.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel refused to throw his players under the bus after the game, and he refused to blame weak mentalities. But unfortunately, after terrible performances like this, there has to be some blame. And I’m not buying all the “we were the best” team garbage, because we weren’t, not even for the first 20 minutes. It is illusion if you think so.

Sources: Four Premier League strikers Chelsea are looking to replace Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic!

Athleticism highlighted this in their post-match analysis, particularly in the line I used for the title of this article – Chelsea’s current problems cannot be solved by a checkbook alone.

As they say, the biggest benefit of Wesley Fofana’s potential arrival would be if Thomas Tuchel stops playing Reece James as a right centre-back, completely limiting what he brings. They also point to the fact that Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are both invited to play as a 6, which is also clearly a problem. And that last question posed in the article is also quite valid:

Is the solution a 33 year old man who was practically driven to the nearest airport by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in February, or are there wider systemic reasons for the struggles of all Chelsea forwards?
