“Due to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) card storage regulations, effective July 1, 2022, Google will no longer be able to save customer card details (card number, expiration date, etc.) in the current format. However, with your authorization, we will save your card details in a format that complies with RBI regulations and secures your sensitive card information, ”Google Pay said.

How to allow Google Pay to save your card in the new format

According to the information provided by the app, if you use Visa or Mastercard and then allow Google Pay to save your card in the new format, you need to make a single manual payment with your current card information. To avoid re-entering your card information later, make payment by June 30, 2022.

If you are using RuPay, American Express, Discover, or Diners Card, Google will not store your card information after June 30, 2022, as card storage, under the new format, is not yet supported for these networks.
