Bangladesh Bank (BB) has requested banks to ensure uninterrupted ATM, POS, internet banking, online electronic payment gateway and MFS services during the Eid-ul holiday – Azha.
BB’s payment systems department issued a circular in this regard on Thursday and sent it to senior managers of all banks, mobile financial service providers, payment service providers and payment system operators.
The circular required banks to organize uninterrupted service of automated teller machine (ATM), point of sale (POS), internet banking, online electronic payment gateway and mobile financial service (MFS) as well as adequate manpower to resolve instantly if any problems arise during the vacation.
He also asked banks to keep enough cash at ATMs, ensure security measures at ATMs, set up a point-of-sale banknote verification machine to prevent counterfeiting in markets at stockyards across the country and other payment points to serve merchants and other customers.
Banks must provide two-factor authentication (2FA) for card payment, cardless payment, the circular said.
MFS providers asked to ensure enough money at their point of sale for people to get the service (cash-in and cash-out) during the period.
Furthermore, the central bank has asked banks and other payment gateway operators to take additional precautionary measures to stop any kind of counterfeiting and scams during the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
