SBI Online: How to Register for State Bank of India Online Banking Services with SBI Online

New Delhi: The country’s largest lender in terms of assets, the State Bank of India (SBI) offers internet banking services with which users can access their account and perform various other transactions. People with savings account with State Bank of India can register for SBI net banking without going to bank branch by registering on SBI online website.

Previously, a person wishing to register for SBI net banking had the mandate to go to the bank branch to submit the physical form. Joint account holders are not eligible to register for SBI net banking with the online registration process, they are still required to go to the bank branch. In order to register on the SBI net banking portal, the user must have an active mobile number linked to the bank account and an active ATM debit card.

How to register for SBI net banking online

Select “Activation / Registration of a new user” on the SBI website,, and click “OK” to continue if you have not requested SBI net banking from the bank branch. Select “New user registration”, click “Next” and enter the relevant personal information such as bank account number, CIF number, cell phone number registered with the bank, branch code bank, then click on “Send”. The user will also have to select the installations required within the framework of the banking network. The aforementioned personal data can be obtained from the bank booklet.

After submission, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number. Click on “Confirm” after entering the OTP, then select the option “I have my ATM card (online registration without visiting a branch)” and click on Submit. Enter ATM-cum-debit card details, captcha code to continue.

After that the user will get a temporary username which can be used to create the login password. Create the password accordingly which must be at least eight characters long, including an uppercase alphabet, a lowercase alphabet, a number, and a special character. Log in again with the temporary username and password and create a new username. Check the box to agree to the Terms and Conditions of State Bank of India Online Banking Services and click submit.

Finally, you will need to create a new login password and profile password (the two passwords are different), select a secret question and provide an answer which is required for verification in case you forget. password or username in the future. Enter date of birth (DoB), registered cell phone number, country of birth and click submit. With this step, all details and settings will be saved and you are ready to use SBI online banking service.
