MECHANICVILLE — A Schenectady man stole credit card and debit card information from the Mechanicville restaurant where he worked, police said.

David Soler III, 19, of Schenectady, was arrested on Thursday and charged with a total of eight counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, as well as multiple misdemeanors, police said.

Police made the arrest as part of an investigation into the theft of credit and debit card information, police said.

Solar worked at a local restaurant, where he stole customers’ debit and credit card information and then used it to make numerous personal purchases, police said. Police did not identify the restaurant in a statement.

Soler also faces five counts of third-degree unlawful possession of personally identifiable information, eight counts of petty larceny and one count of third-degree impersonation, all misdemeanors.

The police found Solar in Schenectady. He was arrested in Mechanicville and released to pretrial services. He has to come back to court later.
